Gold/Plum Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hey Beauties, i decided to take a shot at doing a tutorial with some of my eyeshadow recent and not so recent as eye makeup has very much been my focus, especially since i purchased 10 of the Color Infallible eye shadows and have been over the moon about them since.

Products Used:

MAC Rubenesque paint pot
Color Infallible eyeshadow in Goldmine
MAC Amberlights
MAC Star Violet
Essence Cappuccino, Please!
Urban Decay Blackout
Models Prefer Liquid Liner in Brilliant Brown
Physicians Formula Eye booster in Ultra Black
Maybelline the Falsies mascara

1. Starting with a makeup ready face, ie. foundation and primer in this case it was Ponds BB Cream as foundation and Illamasqua Hydra Veil as a face primer.

2. Apply MAC Rubenesque as a eyeshadow base to the base of your eye lid. Not into the crease. Smudge it out so it's not too thick.

3. Apply Goldmine to the lid by patting it on with flat and rounded brush.

4. Apply Amberlights to the crease and corner of the eye, going over some of Goldmine.

5. Apply Cappuccino, Please! to the brow bone and blend out slightly, apply some to the inner corner and blend out.

6. Apply Violet Star to the upper lid and blend out into Amberlights and Cappuccino, Please!  Finish off with black eyeliner, i used Physicians Formula Eye booster in Ultra Black on the top and Models Prefer Liquid Liner in Brilliant Brown on the bottom lashes. Lastly top with  Maybelline the Falsies mascara.

My first FOTD! uh-oh

Hmm i kind of really didn't want to do this, all in all i don't like posting pictures of my face on here as much as i can help it. But i wanted to be a little braver and i was quite happy with how this look came out and I've been trying a few different things over the past few days so why not be a bit brave and share.

My idea behind this looks was an autumn/winter but still natural kind of feel.

Hmm not sure what my hair is do up there, weird sort of whirly thing.

Products used:

MooGoo Full Cream Moisturizer (base)
Korres Ginger & Vitamins Foundation (LF1) spf 10
Korres Concealer (WRC3)
Korres Eyeshadow (White 02) as a brow highlighter
Essence - All about Matt compact setting powder
Essence brow kit (dark brown shade) to fill in my brows
Illamasqua Cream Blush (Rude)

hmm i just realized i forgot to use mascara....my bad

Anyhow i think it turned out well, next time i will probably spend a little more time on my brows and blend the eyeshadow more on the right (stage right) eye. In that respect taking these photos is actually quite useful in that i see things i didn;t notice or didn;t pay attention to on my face/mirror. Live and Learn.

10 Products I Would Repurchase or my Top Ten Favorite Items

So i was recently watching missglamorazzi when I came across this tag and though it sounded like fun. The basic idea is that if a magic fairy (as opposed to a non-magic one) stole all of your make up what would you 10 products would you repurchase. (after the heart palpations stop). So i thought about what my favorites in my stash are and here is the list i came up with:

Can't start to redo my makeup without some sort of foundation and i know i can trust this product, i know it works for me and that it won't fade away, crease or oxidize on my skin.

Lip Products are always a bit of a secondary concern for me so i like something that lasts a lot and won't need a lot of effort or care on my part. Honey is my favorite neutral my lips but better shade.

#3 Lush Liquid Eyeshadow in Sophisticated
Again the easiest and fastest way to put on eyeshadow, one swipe and you have hours of beautiful neutral eyeshadow that can be used on it's own or as a base.

I would not go back to any other blush as the NARS blushes are so fine that they beat any other powder blush out of the park.

For powder eyeshadow i don't think i can think of a single pallet that can been out the Naked pallet. I was skeptical to begin with but it's hard to argue with perfection.

# 6 Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
Surprising amount of eye shadows, but my favorite is Bad the the Bronze as it's not too creamy like the the Cream and Pink but not as hard as the Taupe. Again a great by itself product or a base.

I initally though that the caramel would be the one i loved the most but it can be a tad too sweet sometimes so i use this one before bed and in the morning. where as i carry the Caramel in my bag and use when I'm out and around. Lovely relaxing scent.

I talked about these recently and i would highly recommend this, it lasts an age and is amazingly easy to apply. Great for those like me who are terrible at eyeliner.

The best powder i have come across, it's light and seems to disappear on my skin while still holding my makeup in place.

No surprise here, i fell in love hard with this color and i would not happily give it up.

So what 10 products would you repurchase?

Choosing Urban Decay Naked 2

It's mine now, i has it! I'm so excited, I've been waiting for it to arrive, i was so down about it taking so long to arrive i barely posted anything at all last month hoping i could do this post! This one, right here! Who doesn't love Naked! hmmm...with UD Naked and NARS Orgasm and Deep Throat I'm beginning to think there might be some kind of conspiracy here.

I thought long and hard about how to present this "review", it really is almost unnecessary, there are millions of reviews for the UD pallets out there, so i thought i would discuss the process of actually choosing one (along with some sexy shots of the N2), since it seems a lot of people who get into beauty stuff eventually arrive at the decision to buy one. Sometimes after years of trying dupes and finally deciding the money is worth it to have the real thing.

In my case eye makeup has never come naturally to me, anything more complicated then mascara and a single color was really beyond me, but over the past year I've been learning a lot (with still a lot to go) and decided that i wanted to take the plunge now rather than buy 30 odd products searching for something great when a million and one bloggers have already pointed the right way.

(swoon)

So as you can see i went with UD N2, over N1 and over the Basic (see below) which were really the only strong contenders. Now if you not aware, this product seems to largely not be available in Australia so more then likely you will have to make your purchase on line. (for reference i choose BeautyBay because free delivery one of my hot words for on line purchasing) It's about $50 either way.

Since this is realistically the most i have ever spent on a makeup product i knew it required some research and here are the basics reasons (some quite superficial) as to what guided my decision and may realistically help someone else;

Naked - the "cult" item , this is the one everyone talks about and it really does carry that fame around with it, warmer colors, casing is not as well built, UD primer potion included (another cult item), large size item, includes blue-ish tones.

Naked 2 - less "cult" status, cooler tones, the black suffers some fallout, comes with a minty lipgloss,  double sided brush, and mirror. This one is housed in a somewhat sturdier metal tin.

Naked Basics - an item i was completely unaware of until i started the search, this includes a few colors from each and two unique but similar shades to those found in 2. A much smaller and cheaper product  ($30), no included product or brush.

As you can see there are a lot of reasons to choose any one of them, i quickly discounted the small Basics because i knew i wanted a bigger product and for a long time seriously considered the Naked(1) because it was the original and it came with the coveted primer potion but honestly, and this was a hard choice, the colors were not really me. Too warm, almost orange in some, and the two random blue tones did not suit my needs, i would buy it for the awesomeness of owning it and then never use anything but the primer potion and two colors.

So it was the Naked 2 for me, and if your facing this same choice at some point i recommend consider which colors you will actually use, of course there is nothing wrong with getting both, but personally i don;have the kind of money to just throw it away on two items that are so very similar. Otherwise maybe the Basics is a good place to start.

Either way you will not go wrong, these eyeshadow really are buttery smooth and are the most amazing eyeshadows i have ever used. So if you have a birthday coming up or want to treat yourself...well this is a very fine treat indeed.

Which one have/would you choose?
